I have a confession to make…when I was a kid I used to watch the movie “Holiday in the sun” with the Olsen twins and for as long as I can remember, I’ve always dreamt of staying at the Atlantis Hotel Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. In 2015 my dream came true!

We stayed at the Atlantis on Paradise Island for a week and we visited beautiful Nassau. What you need to know is that there are different accommodations on the resort and all their prices vary. We stayed at the Beach Tower. We had an incredible view and our trip was affordable. It cost us $1 300 CAD per person for both the hotel and the flight from Montreal. I booked our trip on Expedia. There was an option to add food for the whole week for about $800 per person, but we decided not to take it and we ended up eating for approximately $600 each, so it all worked out for us!

ACTIVITIES AT THE ATLANTIS

1 – Aquaventure Water Park

There are plenty of activities to do on the resort itself. There is a water park (Aquaventure) to which you get unlimited free access when you’re a guest. Can you believe I got to slide with sharks?! I know crazy! The park has water slides, a mile-long lazy river and about 20 swimming areas.

2 – Marine Habitat

There is also a Marine Habitat and many aquariums. Underwater wildlife is everywhere at the Atlantis!

The Marine Habitat showcases exotic marine life ranging from sharks to rays, barracuda, eels and even endangered alligator gar. The Atlantis is home to the largest open-air marine habitat in the world encompassing 14 lagoons with more thanΒ  50 000 aquatic animals representing over 250 marine species. How cool is that?!

3 – Casino, Movie Theatre, Golf, Snorkel & so much more

I told you there were many things to do at the Atlantis! Why not spend an evening gambling at the Casino or watching a movie in their free theatre?! You can also play an 18-hole golf round with a breathtaking ocean view. When I went I brought my own snorkel and went snorkelling in front of “The Royal Towers“, I saw so pretty amazing species underwater.

You can also enjoy yoga, pilates, a fitness center, a world class spa or experience the nightlife the resort offers.

4 – The Marina & Shopping Village

On the resort, you will find a Marina that gives direct access to Nassau Harbour and it has many shops and restaurants. It’s a gorgeous place!

THE FOOD AT THE ATLANTIS

The resort has a total of 21 restaurants and 19 bars and lounges. It ranges from sophisticated restaurants to fast food and buffets. Needless to say, you won’t be starving during your stay as there is a wide variety of choices!

I especially liked the moment when we went to get a Bahamian spice pizza at the Marina Pizza and ate it on the balcony of our sea view room!

VISIT DOWNTOWN NASSAU

It’s about a 30 mins walk to get to downtown Nassau from Paradise Island by crossing the Sidney Poitier Bridge. We decided to walk to get there and we took the water-taxi on our way back, it was pretty cheap and we loved it! Downtown Nassau et so rich and colourful. Try the Rum cakes they are pretty amazing! If you’re looking to buy some souvenirs to bring back home this is the place to go!

Fun fact, English is the official language of the Bahamas and is spoken by a majority of the population. Some habitants also speak Bahamian EnglishΒ andΒ Haitian Creole.

As you can see, the Bahamians have a pretty good sense of humour! Enjoy the BAHHHAMAS!
